1971.
In America, the Equal Rights Amendment will be passed, it will be included in the constitution. In everything, men and women are equal. Equal in rights, equal in duties.
Officially, it will take the approval of at least 38 states to be added to the constitution. Within 1972, 28 states approved it.
Against the equality law, a section of American women built a movement. Led by a female lawyer and Republican politician named Phyllis Schlafly. American scholars believe: if Phyllis had not built this irresistible movement, the law would have been passed in '75-'76, which has not happened even today. 38 states were not completed. It was stuck at 35 for so long. Lastly, Nevada, Illinois, and Virginia approved it between 2017-20.
Well, why did a section of career-women, wives of MPs, and a huge section of American women not want the equality law at that time? And still do not want it. On the question of whether men and women are equal, they will give an answer even more candid than a female coordinator: No, not equal. Why?
The main position of Phyllis's (1924-2016) anti-equality campaign was:
1.
If this law is passed, women like men will be sent to mandatory military training (military drafting).
2.
The special benefits that housewives were getting from their husbands and society 'because of being women' will stop.
3.
Young career-women will get the benefit of this. And middle-aged housewives, divorcees-widows will be victims of society's harshness.
4.
Prostitutes, drug addicts, women with immoral character, and lesbians will get the benefit of this.
5.
There should be wage discrimination between men and women. If not, women will hate motherhood. And the average man's salary needs to be higher, because the man is the provider.
6.
Rather than a career, the role of wife, mother, housewife is the main role for women and more important for society.
7.
Men and women are separate and it is impossible to erase this difference-discrimination in any way. If you can, complain to God.
8.
The development and satisfaction of a woman's body and mind is not in a career. Rather in the family. The call of feminism is harmful to women themselves.
In 2020, Virginia approved it as the 38th state. Even then, the amendment has not been passed in the last 4 years.
