Somaliland-Israel want to be allied
Signs of a new geopolitical equation have been found in the strategic region of the Middle East and Africa.
A senior official of Somaliland, in an interview given to Israel's Channel 12, has informed that they are interested in being allied with Israel in security cooperation against the Yemen-based Houthi group.
The Somaliland official said, “If the Houthis disrupt regional maritime security, then it will be in the interest of both Somaliland and Israel to build a mutual understanding, and to form a security alliance. We are prepared for such cooperation.”
It is noteworthy that the location near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait has turned Somaliland into an important focal point of global trade. About 12 percent of the world's commercial goods are transported through this strait, as a result of which the security here is internationally very important.
